Floods, earthquakes and wars are driving millions of people out of their homes. They lose everything they had after their town is
destroyed. They have to flee their hometowns as the disaster hits and it tears their community apart. It’s not only their homes, it’s
their lives… For 156 million people in need of shelter, this is a frustrating reality.
What is the Situation Around the World?
In Bangladesh, over 943,000 stateless Rohingya refugees reside. The vast majority live in 34 extremely congested camps,
including the largest single site, which is host to more than 635,000 Rohingya refugees.
In Turkey, Lebanon and Northern Syria; 5.4 million refugees are living in tent camps. Their situation is getting worse
especially during the harsh winter season.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Zumra provides temporary shelters and establishes long term housing projects for refugees and needy families in need of a safe
place to live. We are working in Bangladesh, Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Pakistan. We distribute tents to communities
impacted by emergency disasters. We build houses in refugee camps. We also manage the repair and construction of homes in
villages and communities of need. We are improving the conditions of people who live under inadequate shelter.
