Hunger is still a big issue around the world. Over the years the means of food production developed, though the number of food
insecure people went up dramatically in recent years due to the pandemic and the climate change. According to international
reports, 828 million people go to bed hungry every night in 2022.
What is the Situation Around the World?
- In Afghanistan, 2 million children are malnourished and every 1 out of 3 people are starving.
- In Yemen, malnutrition rates of women and children are among the highest in the world. 19 million people are food insecure.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Zumra reaches the most needy in regions that need regular food assistance like Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Bangladesh, Gaza, Lebanon, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Yemen. We support people in emergency relief, poverty stricken countries and refugee camps with food packs and hot meal packs. Throughout the year, we sacrifice animals and distribute the meat to the most needy. Especially, during the month of Ramadan we support needy families with food packs, fitr packs and iftar meals in 15 countries. We cook meals in refugee camps and distribute bread.Videos
